MAPA venues are user friendly for people with a disability and all venues are wheelchair accessible.
The Robert Blackwood Hall has access via two ramps directly into the foyer and then directly into the auditorium.
The stalls area of the Robert Blackwood Hall is completely accessible via ramps outside the venues leading to both upper and lower stalls/foyer levels. The auditorium floor is sloped, providing a gentle rake in the seats without the use of steps.
The balcony area is accessible only via four flights of stairs. This steeply raked section also contains stairs between each row. For this reason, we do not recommend balcony seating for patrons with limited mobility.
The George Jenkins Theatre has access via a lift located in the theatre foyer. Entry to the foyer is from the visitor’s car park side of the building.
MAPA ACCEPTS COMPANION CARDS
People with a disability who require assistance to access our venues have a right to equal participation. Upon purchasing an event ticket, a holder of a Companion Card will be issued a second ticket for their companion at no charge.
DISABLED PARKING BAYS
There are disabled parking bays in all the carparks closest to the venue entrances.
WHEELCHAIR ACCESS IN THEATRES
Each of the MAPA venues have spaces dedicated to patrons using a wheelchair. These spaces need to be pre-booked, so please inform the MAPA Box Office staff of your requirements when making a booking.
Walking frames and other walking aides are not to remain in the venue during performances. However, they are permitted in the venue for use by patrons accessing their seat. Ushering staff are there to help and will store the walking aide nearby, returning it to the patron at interval and at the end of the performance.
AMENITIES FOR ALL
MAPA venues provide toilet facilities that cater for disability and wheelchair access.
Please contact MAPA Box Office on 9905 1111 with any queries you have regarding access to the venues.
